Maurizio Barbeschi has been instrumental in shaping global health security frameworks. During his tenure at the World Health Organization (WHO), he contributed to the development of operational protocols on international health regulations, biosecurity, mass gatherings and emergency response strategies to One Health crises.
For over three decades, he served as a scientific and policy advisor on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear risks, contributing to treaty implementation, arms control negotiations, and national CBRN preparedness frameworks.
His work emphasized the importance of preparedness and resilience in the face of emerging infectious diseases and global health risks.

Barbeschi’s career spans roles in R&D, international policy, and global health: from Shell Chemicals and Politecnico di Milano to leading biosecurity programs at WHO and academic positions; merging innovation, diplomacy and global health security, as well as public health on a global scale.

Following decades of interest in consciousness and quantum biology, Barbeschi now explores the intersection of quantum biology, regenerative health, and human security; developing integrative strategies that promote resilience, sustainability, and long-term well-being across individuals, societies, and ecosystems.
